A Sense of Direction

A few days ago, Elizabeth and I decided to embark upon our first picnic together. We had it all planned out: the basket, the food, the drinks, and even the rustic old blanket to sit on. The plan was fool proof, right? Wrong.

The only thing we forgot was the directions for how to get to the park we planned to eat at. Now, the one thing you must know about me, is that I am absolutely terrible at figuring out how to get somewhere. My response? Three letters: GPS.

So while we were driving to where I thought the park was, we took a wrong turn. As usual. As a matter of fact, we took several. I even went as far as to call my mom for directions, which she was not able to give me. With every passing second I could see little puffs of smoke rise up over Elizabeth's head signaling her irritation. After a while we finally arrived at our destination and had an amazing picnic.

Thats kind of how it is in our lives sometimes. Just driving through without any sense of direction, or destination. The bible talks about how God lead the children of Israel with a pillar of fire through the desert. Without their GPS (aka God) they would have never made it through the wilderness.
